DILEMMA BAKEHOUSE

Description

Dilemma is a bakehouse in North Vancouver run by the creative team behind Catch 122—pastry chefs whose menu changes with the seasons and whose ideas rarely sit still. The shoot had a clear goal: photograph more than the pastries. The images needed to capture the creative mind behind the counter—the freshness, playfulness, and craft that make Dilemma stand out.

Challenge

Every bakery photographs its pastries, and most of those photos look interchangeable—product on a plate, warm light, done. Dilemma's work deserved more, because the pastries themselves are seasonal, inventive, and constantly changing. The concept we landed on used fresh flowers as props throughout the shoot: a visual echo of the kitchen's philosophy—seasonal, natural, alive—that let entremets and croissants share the frame with something equally fresh. The images had to feel as creative as the team that bakes there.

Conclusion

The final set gives Dilemma imagery that does what a display case can't: it communicates the thinking behind the pastry, not just the product. Quality you can see in the detail shots, creativity you can feel in the styling—a visual identity that sets the bakehouse apart in a city full of good croissants.
